Barbara Vincent has owned several art galleries over the past forty years, and has represented hundreds of regional artisans. Her love of fine art and craft celebrates the creativity and passion of those, both trained and untrained individuals, who are willing to follow their hearts to create art. She has served on many boards and commissions and continues to inspire people to enhance their lives through the arts. In 2008, the Cultural Alliance of Hampton Roads presented Barbara with the ALLI Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Cultural Life in Hampton Roads. In 2013, she received the Gladstone M. Hill Friend of the Arts Award in recognition of her significant contributions to the Portsmouth art scene for over 30 years. In 2017, she accepted the Cultural Alliance of Hampton Roads ALLI Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Cultural Life in Hampton Roads given to Support Portsmouth Public Art, a group that she helped form in 2010 to purchase and install public art in Portsmouth. In addition to her Silver Sailboats, she feels honored to serve as a judge of local art shows and enjoys dabbling in fiber, glass, paints, clay & wood; experimenting with texture, color, form and composition. She lives on Scott’s Creek in Portsmouth, Virginia, and dreams of places she’ll go and the things she has yet to do!
